Arcadis wins Gold Award at the 24th Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme

Arcadis Asia - Earlier this year, Arcadis received the GOLD Award as part of a joint venture in appreciation of the contract supervisory team for the ‘Widening of the Tolo Highway – Tai Hang to Wo Hop Shek Interchange’, of which Arcadis are the lead in the JV.

This is the top award in the Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme which is a major annual award scheme operated by the Government, led by Development Bureau. Arcadis was represented at the award ceremony by Robert Gordon and Rupert Leung, along with Arcadis senior members of the site supervision team.

Commenting on the award, Executive Director – Head of Engineering Infrastructure, Asia, Robert Gordon said: “The receipt of this award is fantastic news and is deserved recognition of all the hard work that has gone into making this happen. With all projects of this size, there were multiple stakeholders involved throughout the process and the way we have collaborated both internally and externally on this this project is exemplary."

The project needed careful coordination, including night‐time works, temporary traffic arrangements, tandem lifting over the existing Fanling Highway and MTR East Rail Line, all in close vicinity of existing village houses creating a need to mitigate any disturbance.

Project Details:

  • Widening of a section of Fanling Highway of approximately 2km long (from Tai Hang to Nam Wa Po and from Kiu Tau to Wo Hop Shek Interchange) from the existing dual 3-lane carriageway to a dual 4-lane carriageway, with provision of standard hard shoulder on both directions of the carriageway
  • Widening of associated slip road at Wo Hop Shek
  • Realignment of sections of Tai Wo Service Road West and Tai Wo Service Road East
  • Demolition and reconstruction of 4 existing footbridges which across Fanling Highway at Tai Hang, Tai Wo, Ho Ka Yuen and Wo Hop Shek
  • Demolition of the existing Nam Wa Po Footbridge
  • Construction of a vehicular-cum-walkway bridge of about 400m long at Kau Lung Hang
  • Ancillary works including construction of noise barriers and retaining walls, and installation of traffic control and surveillance system
